Advancing Access (www.advancingaccess.ac.uk) is a partnership between 24 leading universities working together with schools and colleges to develop continuing professional development (CPD) for teachers and advisers.
Next week, on Tuesday 1st November between 4pm and 7pm, Advancing Access are hosting their first virtual conference where you can hear first-hand from staff representing 24 universities and ask questions through live discussion forums, all without the need for travel.
The event is completely free and you can attend as much of the event as you wish to. The event takes place entirely online and is accessible via a PC, laptop or tablet. You will not need to download any special computer software or use a microphone or camera.
You will have the opportunity to take part in four online presentations, each delivered by representatives from two Russell Group universities.
The topics covered are:
What makes a successful personal statement?
Writing academic references
Applying to medicine
Additional admissions requirements.
You will also have the chance to visit virtual university stands to speak with university staff via text-based chatroom forums. More than 40 university representatives from across 24 universities will be available to answer your questions. There will also be a range of materials available to download on topics including entry requirements, summer schools, outreach programmes, scholarships and bursaries.
Finally, you will have the opportunity to learn from your school sector colleagues by contributing to an online discussion forum. Using a text-based chatroom, you will be able share your ideas and ask any questions not already answered in other parts of the conference.
