Bespoke Workshops

HEON are also able to offer workshops to be delivered in your school or at one of our partner campuses. Some of the workshop topics that we can offer you, tailored to meet your individual requirements, are listed below.

Introduction to Higher Education

Students improve knowledge and confidence in the HE routes available, including
apprenticeships and consider the kinds of course they may wish to study in the future.

Recommended Year Group

This session is suitable for all students in Years 9 - 13, with content tailored to be appropriate for their age group.

Duration

This session is expected to take half a day or less. This can be adjusted to meet your requirements.

Careers Conundrum

Students use a range of sources to independently research pathways into a career of their choice, considering how choices at KS4 can lead to multiple HE routes and career options.

Recommended Year Group

This session is recommended for students in Years 9 - 11.

Duration

This session is expected to take between 90 minutes and 2 hours. This can be adjusted to meet your requirements.

UCAS Applications and Personal Statements

Outlines the application process and personal statement writing, as well as open days, interviews and what to do on results day and how to make yourself stand out.

Recommended Year Group

This session is recommended for students in Years 12 - 13, although we are also able to run introductory sessions to UCAS for students in Years 9 - 11.

Duration

This session is expected to take half a day or less. This can be adjusted to meet your requirements.

Transitions to Higher Education

Students consider how to best prepare for HE life. Discuss living options (at home or onsite), student finance and budgeting, work experience, UCAS, results and clearing, etc.

Recommended Year Group

This session is recommended for students in Year 13 as it focuses on their impending transition.

Our "Introduction to Higher Education" could cover similar themes for students in Years 9 - 12.

Duration

This session is expected to take half a day or less. This can be adjusted to meet your requirements.

What I wish I had known

A Student Ambassador led workshop discussing their experiences of student life. To cover academia, societies, sports, living away from home, Erasmus, work experience.

This session is suitable for all students in Years 9 - 13, with content tailored to be appropriate for their age group.

This session is expected to take between 90 minutes and 2 hours. This can be adjusted to meet your requirements.

Higher/Degree Apprenticeships workshop

This workshop explores alternate routes into Higher Education and explains the different types of apprenticeship, how to apply and the pros and cons of using this pathway into HE.

This session is suitable for all students in Years 9 - 13, with content tailored to be appropriate for their age group.
